Shredlings shows you and your friends on a map of the mountain and tracks your riding. This page explains what we collect, why, who sees it, and how to delete it. We don't sell your data, show ads, or use third-party analytics or tracking.
Without an account
You can use Shredlings without signing in. Your rides, tracks and stats then stay on your phone, nothing about you is sent to our servers, and you see only yourself on the map. The app does download mountain maps from our server.
What we collect when you sign in
- Account: your email address (or the private relay address Apple gives us, if you use Sign in with Apple and hide your email), the identifier Apple or our sign-in code gives your account, and a token from Apple we use only to revoke your Apple sign-in when you delete your account.
- Profile: your display name, username, rider look (outfit, colors, items), board type, and your visibility setting.
- Live location while you ride: while a ride is recording, your phone sends your latest position on the mountain (about every 10 seconds). We keep only the most recent one, drop it when you end the ride, and ignore it after 10 minutes. We don't keep a history of live positions.
- Rides: for each finished ride, its time, mountain, stats (vertical, runs, speed, distance) and its GPS track, limited to the part on the mountain. These back up your ride history and power replays.
- Friends and social: your friends and friend requests, your friend code, riding plans and their notes, stoke on rides, and leaderboard standings computed from your rides.
- Safety: people you block, and reports you send or that are sent about you (who, the reason, any details written).
- Technical: your IP address is used briefly in memory to limit abuse (for example, too many sign-in codes); our servers keep standard request logs (time, path, result) for operating and securing the service.
Location is collected only while a ride is running. The app asks for permission to use location in the background so a ride keeps recording with your phone in your pocket.
Who sees what
- Your live position and mountain leaderboard standings: depend on your visibility setting, both ways. Public: everyone signed in on the same mountain. Crew only: your friends. Hidden: nobody (and you see nobody).
- Your rides and their stats: you and your friends (in the crew feed), whatever your visibility.
- Your ride tracks (for replays with your crew): you and your friends, unless you're hidden.
- Your profile (name, username, look): people who search for you, your friends, and people who can see you on the map or leaderboards.
- Your email: only you and us.
- If you block someone, you and they stop seeing each other everywhere.
Service providers
We use a few companies to run Shredlings, who process data only on our behalf: Fly.io (servers, United States), Neon (database, United States), Resend (sending sign-in emails), and Apple (Sign in with Apple). Mountain maps are built from OpenStreetMap data.
How long we keep it
We keep your data while you have an account. Live positions expire after 10 minutes. When you delete your account, we delete it and everything tied to it: profile, rides and tracks, friendships, plans, stoke, blocks and sessions, and we revoke your Apple sign-in. Reports someone else filed about you are deleted with your account; reports you filed are kept without your name. Deleted data can remain in database backups for a short period before they expire.
Your choices
- Change who sees you anytime: You โ Visibility.
- Delete a ride from your history; it's deleted from our servers too.
- Delete your account in the app: You โ Account โ Delete account.
- Ask us for a copy of your data or any question about it: support@shredlings.app.
Children
Shredlings isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child under 13 has an account, contact us and we'll delete it.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update this page and its date, and tell you in the app for significant changes.
